First, <strong>sieve analysis<\/strong> is conducted. A variety of sieves with different openings are stacked, with the largest opening sieve on the top and smaller on the lower sections.\u00a0When a relatively large percent passing through the sieve with 0.075mm opening (e.g., more than 10% as a guideline) is obtained from the sieve analysis, a <strong>hydrometer analysis<\/strong> is conducted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">This program process the raw data from\u00a0sieve analysis and\u00a0hydrometer analysis to get the\u00a0 grain size distribution curve and other parameters like <strong>D10, D30, D50, D60, Cu<\/strong> and <strong>Cc<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>D10<\/strong>: effective grain size,\u00a0the diameter of the soil particles for which 10% of the particles are finer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>D30<\/strong>: the diameter of the soil particles for which 30% of the particles are finer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>D50<\/strong>: mean grain size,\u00a0the diameter of the soil particles for which 50% of the particles are finer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>D60<\/strong>: the diameter of the soil particles for which 60% of the particles are finer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Cu<\/strong>:\u00a0coefficient of uniformity, defined as \u00a0<strong>Cu = D60\/D10<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Cc<\/strong>: coefficient of curvature (other terms used are the coefficient of gradation and the coefficient of concavity) defined as <strong>Cc = D30*D30\/ D60\/ D10<\/strong>\u00a0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The coefficient of uniformity and the coefficient of gradation affect the
